When you awaken, you will have surgical drains which will be removed in your follow-up appointment the next day.

What is Recovery From a Facelift Like?

You will have incision sites, either around your ears, hidden in the folds, or within the hairline for more excessive facial sagging. These incisions will be invisible once healed. We have no limit on the post-operative care for our patients and are available 24/7 for calls. Initially, your face will appear swollen and may be bruised, typically around the eyes. Within two to three weeks, the swelling reduces, the bruising fades, and your new facial look is revealed – fresh and young. The entire recovery will require about four to six weeks, depending upon Dr. Parker’s approval.

During your recovery, you will be restricted in what body motions you should make, and must avoid bending over, keep your head elevated, and do not take blood thinners. Your stitches will be removed in about five to seven days.

Note about Smoking: You must quit smoking at least six weeks before your surgery and throughout the healing process for at least three weeks. Smoking limits blood flow and poses a risk of skin death.
