Pre-Procedure
The Procedure
Recovery Period

No plucking, waxing, depilatory or bleaching for 1 week prior to treatment. Please refrain from the previously mentioned methods of hair removal during the laser treatment process; these methods will interfere with the laser treatment and may result requiring more treatments to achieve desired results. Shaving is permitted during laser treatments.

Please remove make-up, deodorants, and lotions in treatment area prior to treatment. Ladies: If you are treating your bikini area please wear white underwear, because the laser is attracted to dark colors.

Shaving may not be required prior to your first treatment. Please call for further instructions. A $25.00 fee will be charged for unshaven areas following your first treatment.

If you've started any antibiotics or any other medications that may make you photo sensitive, please let us know. We may have to reschedule your appointment. Also notify the RN/Tech if there has been any change in your health status. (new medications, heart condition etc.)

The areas which are to be treated are shaven to remove any length of hair which is exposed past the skin, while treating the desired areas veins..

Then a special cooling gel and special cold packs are applied to the area. Several minutes are allowed to pass to prepare the skin.

The laser is then glided in small lines over the area to remove any unwanted veins. You might feel some minor discomfort from the heat of the laser.

Generally, recovery time with laser hair removal is rapid and gentle.

During the first few days after your procedure, your skin might feel some real minor discomfort or redness. Some temporary swelling may occur around the treated areas, and there is some risk of pigmentation disturbance with darker skin types.

The full effect of your treatment develops over a few visits as there at hair folicles which are dormant during the procedure. It will take a few treatments to be able to get all the hair follicles in their non dormant states.

Frequently Asked Questions For Vein Removal

Will laser therapy work on my leg veins?
Although there is no way to tell for sure which veins will respond, a consultation with the Doctor to evaluate and access your veins will be required. Prior surgery or treatment on your veins could affect the treatment outcome. In some cases, further testing may be recommended to determine if there are underlying venous problems.

What does it feel like?
Although many patients report little or no discomfort, some may experience a mild stinging sensation only when the laser pulse is delivered. The cold tip on the hand piece helps soothe the skin as the laser is delivered.

How long will the treatment take?
Treatment time varies depending on the number and size of the vessel(s) to be treated, usually 15-30
minutes.

How many treatments will I need?
In many cases, significant improvement is realized in as few as 1 to 3treatments. In some cases new spider veins may appear therefore, additional treatments may be necessary. Treatments may occur at 4 week intervals.

When can I resume normal activities?
Although we encourage you to resume normal activities almost immediately, we do ask that you refrain from vigorous exercise and avoid hot tubs for at least 24 hours post treatment. Also avoid direct sun exposure after treatment and if you do go in the sun, protect the treated area with a minimum SPF 30 Sun Block (not sunscreen).

What will the laser do to the veins?
When treating vascular lesions, the blood temperature at the targeted area is elevated to a level that causes coagulation without damage to the epidermis or surrounding tissue. Because the laser energy is absorbed by melanin in the epidermis, as well as the desired target of hemoglobin, the epidermal-cooling feature integrated in the hand piece is used to reduce the temperature rise in the epidermis. Multiple treatments may be necessary to obtain a satisfactory response for some leg veins.
